There’s something about that first sip of pumpkin spice in late summer that feels like flipping the page to a new chapter — the cozy one. I lit a candle, queued up something comforting, and made my very own homemade pumpkin spice syrup… and let me tell you: it tastes exactly like a Starbucks PSL (but cozier, somehow?).
I used this recipe from the official Starbucks at Home site — and it’s as easy as it is delicious. Think real pumpkin purée, warm spices, and a syrup that will make your kitchen smell like a candle you wish existed.
Here’s how I made mine:
A double shot of espresso A generous pour of the homemade pumpkin spice syrup Topped it off with frothed milk (I use my little handheld frother and it works like magic)
I’ve been making this on repeat, and honestly? It’s replaced my morning coffee shop runs. It’s that good.
If you’ve never made your own syrups before, don’t worry — this one’s beginner-friendly and tastes better than any store-bought version. One batch lasts a while in the fridge and makes every morning feel a little more intentional… and a lot more fall.
Let me know if you try it! Bonus points if you sip it while reading a good book. I’m currently reading Pumpkin Spice Café and couldn’t have picked a better pairing.
